The immediate past Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun Central has unlocked his political machineries across the three senatorial districts of the state to scuttle the re-election bid of his successor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Although a senator on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Amosun is not supporting Abiodun’s second term bid.
He also did not support the governor despite being in same political party when he was elected in 2019.
Another source added that Amosun’s predecessor, Gbenga Daniel, who has just been elected as Senator on the platform of the APC, is also interested in Abiodun’s defeat.
Things got to a head when the Governor engineered a boycott of Gbenga Daniel’s campaign activities by his aides and party executives after the latter had secured the Ogun East senatorial ticket against all odds,” the source added.
“With APC’s votes divided in Ilaro axis, Akinlade, the running mate of Adebutu would be heavily mobilised to deliver Ipokia and Imeko Afon to the PDP.
“Amosun is also hoping that Daniel’s strong political structure and Adebutu’s robust goodwill in Ijebu and Remo axis would deliver the Ogun East for PDP against Dapo Abiodun whom they perceived lacks much grassroots appeal.
