Olayinka Joel Ayefele, fondly called Yinka Ayefele, is a famous Nigerian gospel musician and entrepreneur.

He was born on the 1st of February 1968 in Ipoti in Ekiti. Currently, Yinka Ayefele is 54 years(2022).

His name is one of the most popular names among Yoruba gospel music lovers. The veteran singer has released over 15 albums, earning him over 200 awards in Nigeria and abroad.

Yinka is also the owner of Fresh FM in Ibadan.

Yinka had his elementary education at Saint Saviour’s Anglican Primary School, Ipoti Ekiti State, before heading for his secondary education.

After his secondary education, he proceeded to Ondo State College of Arts and Science in Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, for his tertiary education.

Yinka started his career as a journalist and broadcaster at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, before he got involved in a ghastly accident which later confined him t a wheelchair

This incident is part of his story to stardom, as he tried to source for money for his treatments then which many Nigerians assisted him with some money and since then he has been using his life and time for the gospel, singing melodious songs that make you shake your body.

No one ever knew Ayefele could be this talented but as God has it, he is now a force to reckon with when it comes to music in Nigeria.

After spending nine months in the hospital in intensive care, Yinka’s spinal cord became damaged.

Relentless Yinka was then advised by late investigative journalist, Kolawole Olawuyi, to document his experience and survival testimony from the accident in songs.

This prompted Yinka to release his debut album, Bitter Experience,” on December 12, 1999. The album launch was also used for fundraising to foot his medical bills.

With success recorded in the first album, Yinka released another “Sweet Experience”.

The two albums recorded remarkable success, and most of its songs became anthems on the lips of music lovers.

To keep up with the momentum, Yinka dropped other albums, Divine Intervention and  Life After Death, in honour of the late Gbenga Adeboye, a journalist, comedian and radio presenter.

Unarguably, Yinka Ayefele is one of Nigeria’s most influential Yoruba gospel singers.

Yinka is also an astute entrepreneur who has several investments. He is also the owner of Fresh FM in Ibadan.

Yinka Ayefele is a recipient of numerous awards. One of which is the Officer of the Order of the Niger, awarded by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the former President of Nigeria, in 2011.

Yinka Ayefele was sued by the topmost monarch of Ijebu, Awujale of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Adetona.

The monarch sued him for  N200 billion at Oyo State High Court over alleged defamation stating that some derogatory words were used against him during a program on Yinka’s Fresh FM.
