President Muhammadu Buhari has formally conferred the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic award on the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola.
The special honour award was conferred on the late Abiola at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in the presence of Nigerian ministers, governors, elder statesmen and notable Nigerians.
The award was received by Kola, the eldest son of late Chief Abiola on behalf of his late father.
Buhari presented the insignia to him after the citation of the late politician was read at the venue.
Buhari, who delivered a keynote address after the investiture, asked that the attendees observe a one minute silence in honour of the late chief.
