Babangida, Danjuma secretly meet in Minna

Nigeria’s former Military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, is said to have on Thursday engaged in a closed-door meeting with an erstwhile Chief of Army staff, General Theophilus Danjuma, at his hilltop mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Although a source that hinted about the meeting on Friday did not say what the two discussed, it was however believed that the meeting may not be unconnected with the ever mounting security and other challenges facing the country.

Danjuma was said to have arrived at the Minna airport at exactly 11:45am and was driven straight to Babangida’s house, where he was was for about three hours.

It was learnt that Danjuma refused to speak with waiting journalists after meeting and discussing with Babangida, as he was said to have driven straight to the airport at about 4:05pm.

A source said, “I am very sure that they must have discussed the general situation in the country – security and political.

The meeting is coming about a month after the former military leader’s statement advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election over growing insecurity issues, among other reasons.

It was also less than two weeks after Boko Haram, which the Federal Government described as totally defeated, attacked a school in Dapchi, Yobe State and abducted 110 schoolgirls, whose whereabouts have remained unknown.
